Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. She is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. The young woman was just a child when her father, who was the carnival barker, passed away. Her mother had to take on jobs such as waitressing and cleaning. Ruth was raised in the poorest neighborhood in Boston Massachusetts where she attended school. She left the institution she was in within two years of her education to pursue a career as an actor. This path was fraught with challenges. When she was offered a job at New York as a model for a detective magazine, she was unable to get opportunities on stage. Then in NYC, she volunteered at a bar as the check-in lady before resigning after a few months and moving to Boston. It was there that she made a buck in the ushering industry during the during the day and then at night performing with the New England Repertory Company. It was her first job as an actor. She has also been accepted into Bishop-Lee Theatre School, where she specialized in drama.
